A bar screen is the first physical pretreatment equipment in wastewater treatment systems, used to block and remove large floating and suspended debris.
Working Principle & Treatment Process
1. Wastewater inflow: Raw sewage flows into the tank and passes through the gap of parallel metal bars.
2. Solid debris interception: Large impurities get stuck on the bar rack. Common trapped waste: branches, plastic bags, rags, stones, food scraps and fiber waste.
3. Automatic/manual slag removal: Mechanical rakes scrape accumulated rubbish off the screen surface regularly; small-scale devices adopt manual cleaning.
4. Waste collection & disposal: Blocked garbage is gathered into a waste bin, then transported out for incineration or landfill disposal.
5. Filtered water outflow: Preliminarily cleaned wastewater flows onward to subsequent sedimentation and purification processes.
