Dissolved Air Flotation In Water Treatment
Dissolved air flotation water treatment is a reliable and efficient water purification technology designed for removing contaminants from various water sources. The core concept lies in infusing air into water to achieve supersaturation under specific pressure conditions. When the pressurized air-water mixture is depressurized and released, countless fine bubbles are generated. These bubbles fully contact and adhere to oils, suspended flocs, and other impurities in the water, carrying them to the surface to form scum. By scraping off the scum, the water quality is effectively purified.
Coyon's DAF water treatment system integrates a high-efficiency vortex reactor with advanced fifth-generation flotation-based solid-liquid separation technology. It excels at removing inorganic particles, algae, colloids, oils, fats, and organic solids from rivers, reservoirs, lakes, seawater, and industrial/municipal wastewater. With its optimized structural design and stable purification performance, it stands as a trustworthy option for meeting strict water treatment requirements across multiple industries and environmental protection scenarios.

Dissolved Air Flotation Process
The operation of the DAF system for water treatment revolves around air supersaturation and bubble adhesion. First, air is dissolved into water under controlled pressure to reach a supersaturated state. The pressurized air-dissolved water is then released into the flotation tank, where the sudden pressure drop causes the dissolved air to escape rapidly, forming tiny bubbles. These bubbles actively attach to the contaminant particles in the water. As the bubbles rise, they carry the attached impurities to the water surface, forming a floating scum layer that can be easily scraped off. This process efficiently separates light contaminants, ensuring the treated water meets the required standards.
During the operation, a portion of the treated water is recycled back to the air dissolution tank, where air is dissolved to supersaturation under pressure. This air-saturated pressurized water is then mixed with the pretreated raw water (added with flocculant) at the inlet of the flotation tank. Upon entering the tank, the pressure decreases, prompting the supersaturated air to form fine bubbles that quickly adhere to suspended solids. The bubbles lift these solids to the surface, forming a removable floating sludge layer. Meanwhile, heavier solid particles settle to the bottom of the tank for separate removal, realizing comprehensive separation of both floating and settling contaminants.
