COYON's screw press sludge dewatering machine is a highly efficient, energy-saving, and environmentally friendly piece of equipment for thickening and dewatering sludge. Sludge water refers to water containing a certain amount of suspended solids, originating from industries such as wastewater treatment, food processing, and chemicals. Our screw press dewatering machine can concentrate municipal sludge to a dry matter content of 20% and mineral/industrial sludge to an even higher level, thus achieving highly efficient sludge removal. This equipment is superior to traditional sedimentation sludge removal processes and other technologies, providing a reliable and cost-effective solution for modern sludge treatment.
The screw press sludge dewatering machine is widely used in municipal sewage treatment plants and industrial wastewater treatment plants, and can also be used for wastewater from papermaking, pharmaceutical, chemical, and food processing industries. It can effectively treat various types of sludge, including domestic sludge, industrial sludge, and oily sludge, reducing sludge volume, facilitating subsequent transportation, and enabling harmless treatment.
If a new wastewater treatment plant design already includes a screw press dewatering machine, the costs associated with building sedimentation tanks can be eliminated, as the equipment can also be used to directly thicken secondary sludge from activated sludge.

How Does Screw Press Dewatering Machine Work
Core Working Mechanism
The screw press sludge dewatering machine's main body features multiple fixed annular plates and movable annular plates, with a screw shaft running through the center. It is divided into two functional sections: the front concentrating section and the rear dewatering section. As sludge enters the concentrating section, it is first thickened to reduce initial volume. When moving to the dewatering section, the filter spacing and screw pitch gradually decrease, and the back platen creates resistance. This combination generates strong mechanical pressure, continuously compressing the sludge to squeeze out moisture, ultimately achieving thorough dewatering.
Step-by-Step Operational Flow
1. Sludge is transported to the flocculation tank by a sludge feed pump, while a polymer feed pump quantitatively adds solid polymer.
2. The mixing motor drives the mixing system to fully blend sludge and polymer, forming stable flocs that enhance dewatering efficiency.
3. When the liquid level in the tank reaches the upper threshold of the liquid level sensor, the sensor triggers the screw body motor to start.
4. The flocculated sludge flows into the screw body and is steadily transported toward the outlet by the screw shaft.
5. Filtrate seeps out through the gaps between fixed and movable annular plates, collecting in the filtrate receiver and discharging via the water outlet.
6. The dewatered sludge cake (with moisture content 75%-85%) is pushed out from the sludge outlet, completing the entire dewatering process.

Advantages of Screw Press Sludge Dewatering Machine
Ultra-Low Energy Consumption: Adopting an efficient screw transmission structure, the machine consumes far less energy than traditional belt presses or plate-and-frame filters. For example, the small-model CYDL101 only requires minimal power to handle 5-7 kg/h of sludge, significantly reducing long-term operational costs.
Minimal Water & Polymer Usage: The optimized flocculation mixing system ensures full contact between sludge and polymer, cutting polymer consumption by 30% compared to conventional equipment. Additionally, the self-cleaning design of fixed and movable plates reduces rinsing water usage, aligning with eco-friendly operation goals.
Quiet & Stable Operation: With a noise level below 60 dB during operation, it creates a comfortable working environment for on-site personnel. The robust frame and high-quality components (such as SS304/316 materials) ensure stable 24/7 operation without frequent shutdowns.
No Pre-Thickening Required: The integrated concentrating and dewatering design eliminates the need for separate sludge thickening equipment. It directly handles sludge with inlet solid content of 95%-99%, simplifying the treatment process and saving equipment investment.
Strong Adaptability to Sludge Types: It performs exceptionally well with various sludge types, including oil/grease-rich sludge from food processing or petrochemical industries. Unlike some dewatering equipment that clogs easily with complex sludge, this machine maintains efficient operation without frequent maintenance.
Low Maintenance & Operational Costs: The modular design and wear-resistant components reduce maintenance frequency. With a 12-month warranty and available on-site engineer support, it minimizes downtime and long-term usage costs.
